David Beckham’s St-Tropez Outfit: Get the Look
The original
$3,950
Our version
$100
David Beckham walked through St-Tropez in a white t-shirt and linen trousers. There is not a logo anywhere on him.
That is the point of Loro Piana, and it is why this outfit costs $3,950 without announcing itself. You are paying for cashmere-soft cotton, for linen that hangs instead of creasing, and for a sneaker with no branding on it at all. It is the most expensive way to look like you are not trying — and also, as it happens, one of the easiest looks on this site to copy.

Weight is the only thing separating a $700 white tee from a $20 one, and it is genuinely visible. Thin jersey clings and shows everything underneath; heavy cotton hangs away from the body and holds its shape at the neck. Garment-dyed is what you are looking for on the label. Buy two — white tees have a season, not a lifetime.

The stripe is subtle and the fit is wide, and both matter. A bold stripe reads pyjama; this is closer to a texture than a pattern. And they need to be genuinely loose through the leg with a proper break over the shoe — a slim linen trouser looks like you have outgrown it. Linen creases and that is correct, so don’t fight it.

Black acetate, rectangular, no metal detailing, no logo on the arm. That is the whole specification. The mistake at this price point is buying something with a visible brand mark or a mirrored lens — both instantly undo the quiet that the rest of the outfit depends on.

Cream rather than white, and no visible branding whatsoever. A stark white trainer is too sharp against linen; cream sits in the same warm family as the trousers and lets the whole thing read as one outfit rather than three separate pieces. Suede or soft leather, thin sole, and keep them clean.
How to wear it
Everything sits in two tones: white on top, warm sand below. No third colour anywhere, including the sneaker. That restraint is the entire trick, and it is why the outfit reads as expensive even in photographs where you cannot see a single label. The gold watch is the only bright object on him.
The tee is untucked and ends just past the waistband. Tucked, this becomes a different and much older outfit. Longer, and the wide trousers swallow you. Those few inches of hem are doing more work than anything else here.
This scales easily. Swap the sneaker for a leather sandal and it is a beach lunch; swap it for a tan loafer and it holds up for dinner. The tee and the trousers never change.
