Maluma’s All-White Outfit in Milan: Get the Look
The original
$42,890
Our version
$114.81
Six pieces credited, $42,890, walking through Milan in a white t-shirt and shorts.
Here is the thing worth noticing before anything else. The clothes — the top and the shorts, the only two garments in this outfit — cost $440 between them. Everything else is a cap, sunglasses, slides and a watch, and those come to $42,450.
Ninety-nine per cent of the money is on things that are not clothing. That is unusual even by the standards of this site.

Not a t-shirt — a short-sleeved cashmere sweater, which is why the surface has that crinkled, slightly rumpled texture rather than sitting flat.
At $230 this is close to an honest price. Cashmere costs what it costs, and Ralph Lauren is not charging a designer multiple here. Our alternative is cotton knit, so you get the texture and the shape but not the hand or the drape.
That texture is the point, though. A flat jersey t-shirt in the same white gives you a completely different, much more ordinary outfit. Look for a visible knit or waffle surface.

White cotton chino, slim through the leg, ending just above the knee. Plain, no pattern, no visible branding.
Same story as the top: $210 is a real price for a well-made chino short rather than a markup.
Length is what matters. Above the knee but not short — these sit at mid-thigh to knee, which is what keeps the proportion balanced against a fitted top.
White, matching the top as closely as possible. This outfit is one colour from shoulder to knee.

Black, curved brim, with a pale trim running along the edge of the peak. Worn low.
Five hundred and fifty dollars for a baseball cap is the single hardest number on this page to justify, and we are not going to try. Loro Piana makes exceptional cloth — the cashmere and vicuña they are known for is genuinely among the best in the world — but on a cap, at this distance, in this photograph, none of that is visible.
Black, curved brim, unbranded. The white edge trim is a nice detail if you can find it, but it is not essential.
The slides

Black, flat, two wide straps crossing over the top of the foot. No buckle, no logo plate visible in this shot.
The crossover strap is a generic sandal construction — it has existed for decades and is made by hundreds of brands. There is no protected shape here and nothing being imitated, so we are happy to link one.
Flat sole, black, two straps. Avoid anything with a moulded footbed or sports branding; the whole point is that they look like nothing.
The sunglasses

ZENOTTIC
Polarized aviator sunglasses, black

A pilot shape — the teardrop aviator, thin metal frame, dark lens. He wears them low on the nose.
This is the most replaceable item on the page. The aviator is one of the most copied and most legitimately reproduced frames in existence, originally made for US pilots in the 1930s and out of any single brand’s control long ago.
Dark lens, thin metal frame, teardrop rather than square. Polarised if you can, since you will actually wear these.

Ninety-three per cent of the outfit, and we are not linking a copy. Same position as Tom Holland’s Daytona and every watch page on this site.
The 3729/1 is a vintage Patek — a gold dress watch from the 1970s on an integrated bracelet. At $40,000 you are buying scarcity and provenance, not a current catalogue item, which means condition and papers are everything.
We covered how Patek allocation and resale actually work on Ronaldo’s Nautilus page. Vintage is a different market again, and a riskier one for a first buyer.
Both buttons go to Patek at The Luxury Closet. There is no honest alternative to send you to.
What it costs
Six pieces, $114.81 against $42,890. That is 99.7 per cent less, and the number is meaningless because of the watch.
The useful comparison is the clothing. Two garments, $440 credited, $49.98 here — 88.6 per cent less. That is the smallest gap we have recorded on any page, and the reason is simple: a cashmere sweater at $230 and a chino short at $210 are real prices for real garments. There was very little markup to remove.
The markup was all in the accessories. A $550 cap, $700 sunglasses and $1,200 slides came down to $64.83 between them — and none of those three replacements involved copying anything.
