Cristiano Ronaldo was photographed arriving at Portugal vs Colombia at the 2026 World Cup, at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, wearing a Rolex Daytona 126598RBOW, the one everyone calls the ‘Rainbow’. Estimated price: around $450,000.
It is his third big watch on this site, after the Patek Philippe Nautilus Haute Joaillerie and the Jacob & Co. Royal Baguette. This one is the loudest of the three.
What it is
It is a Cosmograph Daytona, Rolex’s chronograph, in 18k yellow gold. The three small counters on the dial keep track of the stopwatch, exactly as on a plain steel Daytona.
Everything around them is different. The bezel is set with sapphires cut and graded so the colours run in a smooth rainbow all the way around. The dial is black lacquer, with hour markers made of sapphires in matching colours. The lugs and crown guards are fully set with diamonds.
Why the Rainbow is so hard to get
Setting a rainbow is far harder than setting diamonds. Every sapphire has to be chosen for exactly the right shade so the colours blend from one stone to the next without a jump. Rolex makes very few of these, and the waiting list is not a list most people get onto.
That is why the market price is so far above the retail price. Demand has outrun supply since the first Rainbow Daytona appeared, and this current version with diamond-set lugs is the most extravagant yet.
