Johnny Depp Outfit in Las Vegas: Stetson, MOSCOT, John Varvatos and Dior

Five pieces, $5,130, in Las Vegas. It is Johnny Depp’s first outfit on this site.

A brown Stetson, rose-tinted MOSCOT glasses, a dark multi-button jacket, distressed Dior jeans and black Dior boots: this is Depp’s uniform, the rock-and-roll Western look he has worn for twenty years.

The hat

The Open Road is the Stetson that Lyndon Johnson made famous: a low, pinched crown and a short brim in 6X fur felt. On Depp it is beaten in and worn low, which is the whole trick. A brand-new cowboy hat looks like a costume.

The glasses

The Lemtosh is MOSCOT’s best-known frame, a 1930s New York shape with a keyhole bridge, and Depp has worn it for years. The rose tint is the signature: light enough to see his eyes, coloured enough to look deliberate.

The jacket

John Varvatos is Depp’s go-to for jackets: rock-and-roll tailoring from a designer who made his name dressing musicians. The Woodward has a high, multi-button front and a narrow cut, so it works buttoned up or open over a shirt.

The jeans

Slim, dark and worn in. Dior Homme jeans are the narrow, rock-star cut that made the label famous in the 2000s, and Depp keeps them long so they stack over the boots.

The boots

A shiny black lace-up on a thick sole finishes the look. It is the only polished piece in the outfit, and it stops the rest from looking scruffy.

What it costs

The outfit came to $5,130, and we have replaced it for $206.95: 96 per cent less.

The formula is easy to copy: one worn-in hat, tinted glasses, everything else black or dark denim. The hat and the glasses do all the talking.
