Tyla’s New York Outfit: Get the Look
The original
$2,170
Our version
$86
Tyla walked through New York in a white tank and flared jeans. Two things almost everyone already owns, worn in a way almost nobody gets right.
The trick is entirely in the styling. The tank is knotted rather than tucked. The jeans sit below the hip with the waistband folded down. Nothing here is expensive to copy — but the details are the whole outfit, and getting them wrong turns it from Y2K into a bad night out.

Buy it slightly too long, then knot it yourself at the front. That is the entire difference between this and a plain white vest. A tank that is already cropped gives you a straight hem and none of the intentional-looking bunching, and the knot is what makes it read as styled rather than as underwear.

Low rise is doing the work here, not the flare. If you buy high-waisted flares — and most cheap flares are high-waisted, because they sell better — the whole proportion collapses and you get a seventies costume instead. Check the rise measurement, not the leg shape, and size up if you plan to fold the waistband over the way she has.

This is the piece worth the most attention, because a bad rhinestone sandal looks like a bridesmaid shoe. Two things separate them: a square open toe rather than a rounded one, and a slim sculpted heel under three inches. Silver reads more expensive than gold at this price point — gold plating on cheap shoes goes brassy under any indoor light.
How to wear it
The outfit is white and blue and nothing else. Every other element — the beaded necklace, the body chain, the crystal sandals — is texture rather than colour. That is why it looks considered instead of cluttered despite there being a lot going on.
The waistband is folded down and the jeans are worn open at the top button. This is deliberate and it is the single hardest part to copy without looking careless. If you are not confident with it, wear them closed and low — you keep most of the effect and none of the risk.
For a version that works outside New York in April, the same jeans and sandals with a plain white shirt worn open over the tank gives you the identical line with considerably more coverage.
