Neymar Jr was photographed at the Maracanã before Brazil played Panama, wearing a diamond-set Patek Philippe Nautilus in white gold.
It is the same watch Cristiano Ronaldo wore to the World Cup. Not the same model — the same reference, 5811/1460G-001, down to the last digit. Around $720,000 each.
Two players, one reference
This is the interesting part, and it is worth sitting with for a moment.
Patek Philippe makes roughly seventy thousand watches a year across its entire catalogue. Haute Joaillerie pieces are a tiny fraction of that, allocated privately to established clients. These are not watches that turn up in a shop window.
And two of the most photographed footballers on earth are wearing the identical reference.
That tells you something about how these objects actually move. At the very top, the pool of people who get offered a fully paved Nautilus is small, and they know each other, and they are advised by the same handful of dealers and agents. A watch like this circulates inside a closed group rather than a market.
Worn completely differently
The other thing worth noticing is what each of them was wearing it with.
Ronaldo wore his arriving in Palm Beach, in a navy blazer over a black tee, sunglasses on. Formal, considered, the watch as part of an outfit that had been thought about.
Neymar is wearing his on a pitch, in a Brazil training top and shorts, warming up before a match. Three quarters of a million dollars of diamonds against a nylon football kit and a backwards cap.
Neither is wrong. But the second is a more specific kind of statement — a watch that cannot be insured casually, worn to kick a ball around in front of sixty thousand people.
What the watch is
We covered the full specification on the Ronaldo page rather than repeating it here, but briefly: 1,285 brilliant-cut and 195 baguette-cut diamonds set in 18-carat white gold, across the case, bezel, dial and the whole bracelet. Nearly fifteen hundred stones, set by hand at the factory.
The movement underneath is the calibre 26-330 S, the same self-winding movement Patek puts in a plain Nautilus. The three quarters of a million is the stones and the setting, not the watchmaking.
Worth repeating one point from that page, because it matters at this level: factory-set is not the same as aftermarket-set. There is a substantial trade in adding diamonds to plain watches afterwards, and the result is worth a fraction of a genuine Haute Joaillerie reference. The paperwork is the difference.
Where to find one
The position we hold on every page here. The Nautilus is among the most counterfeited designs in watchmaking, and paved versions attract the most fakes because diamonds cover a multitude of manufacturing sins. There is no cheap version of this watch and we will not link one.
Patek allocates rather than sells, so the realistic route is a specialist dealer or an auction house, with papers and provenance.
Worth saying
We priced a full Neymar outfit on this page, and the whole thing came to $157.96 in alternatives.
This watch is worth about four and a half thousand of those outfits. There is no version of it we can make affordable, and the honest thing is to say so rather than pretend.
Price checked 9 September 2026 and will move. Prices for haute joaillerie references are set by the secondary market. Fashion Place earns a commission on some links at no extra cost to you.
