Lionel Messi’s Yellow T-Shirt Outfit in Miami: Get the Look
The original
$2,850
Our version
$72.95
Three pieces credited, $2,850, getting into a car in a Miami car park. It is Lionel Messi’s third appearance here, after his look in Rosario and his Rolex Oyster Perpetual.
This is the most ordinary outfit we have priced. A plain yellow t-shirt, navy shorts and slip-on shoes. No logo, no pattern, no watch in shot, nothing to refuse. Just three everyday garments carrying $2,850 between them.

Pale yellow, relaxed, short sleeved, crew neck. No print visible in the photograph.
Seven hundred dollars. That makes it the second plain t-shirt above $700 we have priced this month — IShowSpeed’s Louis Vuitton one was $820. Neither has a logo you can see.
Paula’s Ibiza is a boutique that opened on the island in 1972, known for bright prints and holiday clothes. Loewe has produced a summer collection with it since 2016, and this is from that line — which explains the colour, if not the number.
Pale yellow rather than bright. The washed-out tone is what makes it look like holiday clothing rather than a football shirt.

Navy, loose, ending just above the knee, in a light cotton that creases as he moves.
Poplin is a plain-weave cotton — smooth, light, the fabric most summer shirts are made from. It is not a technical material and it is not rare.
Loose and above the knee, light cotton rather than jersey. Plain navy, no pockets on the leg.

Blue suede, backless, slipped on with no fastening, on a pale contrast sole.
A backless suede mule is one of the oldest shoe shapes there is, and there is no Prada detail visible here at this distance — no logo plate, no hardware. What you see is a blue suede upper and a cream sole.
Blue suede, backless, pale sole. The contrast between upper and sole is the only visual detail in the shoe.
What it costs
Three pieces, $72.95 against $2,850. That is 97.4 per cent less.
And it is worth sitting with what this outfit actually is. A man in a car park in Miami, in a yellow tee and navy shorts, wearing nearly three thousand dollars. There is no craftsmanship being displayed, no protected design, no complication. The t-shirt alone costs more than most people spend on clothes in a season.
Which is the cleanest version of the point this site keeps arriving at: at the top of the market, the price and the garment stop being related to each other. A $700 yellow t-shirt is a yellow t-shirt.
